Jesus Christ, Jerusalem, and the Temple
“There is a modern day fascination with the City of Jerusalem. It is even called “The Holy City” and Israel “The Holy Land”. The truth is that Jesus described that nation as murderous vinedressers. Jesus told His disciples to leave Jerusalem and go to the ends of the earth with the Gospel. Jesus told His disciples that outside of Israel, in the Gentile nations, they would find people willing to receive the Son and bear fruit for Him.”

The Scofield Bible is indeed bad, bad news. Oh, and he dropped Mat 24:14!

Interesting blog entry…nothing new of course. It’s known as “Replacement Theology.” Replacement theology says God has washed His hands of Israel and the Jewish people and now only deals with the Church and those who hold to it believe Israel’s presence in the land and the city of Jerusalem today is nothing more than an accident of history. It is a deadly and deceptive theology, one that has its origins out of the pits of hell. The Church has not replaced Israel and God is certainly not finished with Israel. I would suggest one read and consider the whole counsel of Scripture on the matter. One place to start is Daniel 9:24-27. Most of that prophecy has been fulfilled. Part of it has not. It will be. The only way for it to be would require God’s dealing with the Jewish people. Furthermore, Paul makes it overwhelmingly clear in Romans 9-11 that God has not finished with His chosen people. Of course, such a theological position that God is not finished with the Jewish people, would require one to believe the black letters are just as insipired as the red letters and that neither contradicts the other.

@ Scott - This is a sermon posted by my Pastor. Sorry, should have clarified that. I understand Replacement theology so there is no need for a definition. In one sense the universal Church has “replaced” Israel (Romans 9:6) but not in the way you are accusing me of teaching. Paul tells the Romans that Israel is understood to be more then simply an ethnic body in that it includes those who are circumcised of the heart and not of the flesh (Romans 2:29). With that being said, God is by no means finished with Israel. Paul speaks of a time in Romans 11 when there will be a great number of Jews who come to faith in Christ although I am not at a point to give a strong exposition of that passage.
I do certainly believe that the whole of scriptures in the inspired words of God, infallible and profitable for reproof and teaching (the red words as much so as the blacks ones).
Please refrain from using such sarcasm in future posts. If you are truly concerned with correction and rebuke it can certainly be done without a condescending tone.

Thanks 4 your reply. After re-reading my post, you are right, there was probably a hint of sarcasm in there. I could blame it on the drugs the dr had me on this past week for bronchitis, but in the end, I still wrote it. Cya.
