About a year ago I began to look for a new Bible. I have grown to love the English Standard Version (ESV) that embraces an “essentially literal” translation of the Scriptures while balancing readability. Unfortunately, the ESV is a relatively new translation and there are few versions available to buy.
I know exactly what I am looking for in a Bible. I wanted a cross-reference system in an ESV that was compact in size such that it could easily be carried around. Until recently, the closest version to these specifications was the ESV Classic Reference Bible that was contained the cross-reference system and an extensive concordance but was still quite large.
I am thrilled, though, that Crossway has recently release a Personal Size Reference Bible that includes both the reference system and is compact in size. The new Personal Size Reference Bible is a mediator in size between the previous Thinline ESV’s and the Compact ESV’s.
I recently ordered myself a copy of the Personal Size Reference Bible. I thought about writing an extensive review about the font, single column paragraph format, reference system, cover and other characteristics. In attempting to do so, though, I came across other who had already done such reviews. I will commend these reviews for your study and encourage you all to consider making this investment.

“Modern Christianity has all but abandoned the roles established for men and women as dictated by the scriptures. It is no longer uncommon to have a church led by a female despite Paul’s instructions for a woman not to teach and to learn silently (1 Timothy 2:11-14). Marriages are plagued with apathetic men who refuse to take on the leadership role of the “head” of the wife as commanded throughout the New Testament (Ephesians 5:21-33). I would like to use this brief article to suggest that the modern movement away from the biblical roles and relationships of men and women not only denies scriptural teachings but also distorts our understanding of the very nature of God. I will argue that it is God’s triune nature and the relationships and roles that exist among the three Persons of the Trinity that form the foundation for the scriptural dictations for male-female relationships.”

The idea of spring break typically musters up the image of beaches, laziness, parties, alcohol, and promiscuity. My first spring break experience, though, was the polar opposite from the norm. I, along with a group affiliated with Wright State’s branch of Campus Crusade for Christ, were able to spend our minor vacation in urban Chicago for a missions outreach.
The trip as a whole is called Urban Immersion where students Campus Crusade students from various universities around the nation come together in major cities for service, learning, and evangelism. Our group was composed of students from Arkansas, Wisconsin, Washington, and, of course,
Ohio.

Norma Lee Neff passed away Saturday March the 26th at 1:15 in the morning. Norma lee was my fiancee’s grandmother who I had know for five years now. She had been sick for the past few months and was diagnosed with andvanced terminal lymphoma just over one month ago. She passed quietly with her entire immediate family around her bedside.
Norma lee was well loved by many and will be dearly missed. The viewing will be this Tuesday at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles, Ohio and the funreal will follow on Wednesday at Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church in New Weston, Ohio. We all mourn her death but celebrate her eternal life.
